Your video playlist lets you stay on-air and keep your audience engaged even when you aren’t live. Below are the steps to create one.
Under your profile picture in the upper right corner, click the dropdown option “My Dashboard.” On your dashboard page, click on the tab labelled “Playlist” on the left side of the screen.
From here, you can build your own playlist from YouTube videos and playlists. Simply copy and paste a valid url and press the “+” to add it to your list. (Pro Tip: Views on Firetalk count toward your YouTube views and ad hits, so link videos that generate you money!)
You can also rearrange (drag and drop), rename (click the pencil), and remove (click “Remove”) videos in your playlist. You can double click on any video title to play on your channel and cause the playlist to proceed from there.
Once your playlist is perfect, simply press the “Play All” button at the top right of the dashboard. This will allow channel viewers to watch the videos you have queued. To continue editing or to add/remove content, click the “Pause All” button that replaces “Play All.”
Starting a live broadcast will automatically pause your playlist until that broadcast ends. To clear your entire playlist, click “Clear Playlist” at the bottom of the channel page view. This cannot be undone, so be sure you want to start over before clicking.
If you navigate to your channel player when you do not have a playlist set, you will see the option to add a first video in the player. After you do, click the list icon next to the “Up Next” tab to navigate to your dashboard playlist and add further content.
Common Issues: Sometimes, you will see an “Invalid URL” message when trying to add a video to your playlist.
There are two common reasons for this error. First, playlists will not host live YouTube videos, so you will have to wait until the creator posts a recorded version. Second, when adding a full YouTube playlist or a video from a playlist, you must use the original URL of either piece of content. For a playlist, this is the URL of the static list page. For a song, this is the URL independent of the playlist play through.
Bonus Tip: If you have any of your live broadcasts saved, you can add those to your playlist, too! Under the Episodes tab on the Channel Dashboard, you can upload videos to YouTube and add them to your Firetalk playlist as above.
